The Alchemy of Grief

Conversations in Paint

About the book

The Alchemy of Grief is a poignant and deeply personal journey through the transformative power of art and love, following the devastating loss of Deborah Kadagian’s beloved son, Sean.

After Sean’s passing, Deborah found solace and expression through painting. What began as an instinctive act of survival evolved into a healing process that let her channel love and sorrow onto the canvas. With each brushstroke she explored and documented a stage of her emotions, building a visual narrative of the journey through grief.

The book interweaves heartfelt reflections, journal entries, and vibrant paintings, offering an intimate look at that experience and inviting readers to witness the alchemical transformation of pain into beauty. Her story is a testament to the enduring power of love and the resilience of the human spirit.

It is a book for anyone who is grieving, and for anyone who will be — which is all of us. Through art and words, Deborah hopes to help others find their own paths to healing, and to discover the beauty that can emerge from the depths of sorrow.

Weaving personal narrative, evocative painting, and psychedelic healing, it explores loss, love, and the unbreakable bonds that transcend time and space — a celebration of life, art, and the power of unconventional healing.
